Enforcement

The Scottish Information Commissioner is the statutory body responsible for promoting and enforcing Scotland's freedom of information (FOI) laws:

  • the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002
  • the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004, and
  • the INSPIRE (Scotland) Regulations 2009

Our Enforcement Policy sets out what the Commissioner will enforce and the outcomes that enforcement aims to achieve.
